We are dedicated to supporting the Air Force’s pursuit of technological superiority by delivering advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities that enhance cyber operations, decision-making, and mission effectiveness. Our goal is to be a trusted partner in integrating innovative AI solutions that bolster cyber resilience and operational agility.

We’re looking for an AI Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team supporting the U.S. Air Force’s Unified Platform Software Factory in San Antonio. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML models and tools that improve threat detection, automate analysis, and support cyber defense workflows. You will collaborate closely with cyber operators, software engineers, and data scientists to build AI-driven solutions that accelerate decision cycles and enhance mission outcomes.

We are hiring for both fully remote positions and hybrid roles based in San Antonio, TX. Candidates local to San Antonio should expect a mix of onsite and remote work as part of a hybrid schedule.

In this position, you can expect to:

  • Lead the design and implementation of AI and ML models tailored to cyber operations challenges such as anomaly detection, threat classification, and predictive analytics.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and MLOps workflows using modern tools and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing cyber defense platforms and DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Collaborate with data and cyber engineers to curate, preprocess, and analyze large datasets for model training and validation.
  • Conduct research and experimentation to evaluate emerging AI techniques relevant to cyber security and operational needs.
  • Optimize AI models for performance, accuracy, and operational efficiency in cloud and containerized environments.
  • Provide SME guidance on AI best practices, explainability, and ethical AI considerations within mission contexts.
  • Support automation of threat detection, incident response, and cyber situational awareness through AI-driven tools.
  • Document AI workflows, models, and system integration points to support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

As the cyber threat landscape evolves, your expertise will be key in advancing AI capabilities that keep pace with adversaries. We seek innovative engineers who can translate cutting-edge AI research into practical mission solutions.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, data science, or related fields.
  • Strong background in machine learning algorithms, neural networks, natural language processing (NLP), and anomaly detection.
  • Proficiency with Python and AI/ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, scikit-learn, or similar.
  • Experience with data engineering tools, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts and challenges, preferably within DoD or intelligence community environments.
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and ability to integrate AI models into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Active secret clearance is required, with TS/SCI preferred.
  • B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or related technical discipline (advanced degrees preferred).
  • This is a hybrid position – with both quarterly onsite and remote work supported.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
