BridgePhase

Technical Writer

San Antonio, TX - Full Time

BridgePhase is a software engineering company focused on designing, building, securing, and operating cutting-edge software solutions that drive mission success and operational excellence for Federal Government organizations. We are dedicated to supporting the Air Force’s commitment to cyber dominance by delivering innovative software services that elevate communication, compliance, and technical clarity across mission systems. Our goal is to be a trusted partner in advancing operational readiness by ensuring the accurate, timely, and accessible documentation of critical technical solutions.

We’re looking for a skilled Technical Writer to join our team supporting the U.S. Air Force’s Unified Platform software factory in San Antonio. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a wide range of technical documentation, from system architecture and user manuals to cybersecurity compliance artifacts and knowledge base content. You’ll collaborate closely with software engineers, cybersecurity professionals, DevSecOps teams, and mission stakeholders to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and actionable documentation that supports system sustainment and mission understanding.

We are hiring for both fully remote positions and hybrid roles based in San Antonio, TX. Candidates local to San Antonio should expect a mix of onsite and remote work as part of a hybrid schedule.

In this position, you can expect to:

  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documents including system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, training materials, and security accreditation artifacts.
  • Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity SMEs, and program managers to gather source material, conduct interviews, and verify technical accuracy.
  • Translate complex technical language into clear, readable content for a variety of audiences, including cyber operators, mission users, and leadership.
  • Support the development of security documentation in accordance with Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-53 controls, and DoD compliance standards.
  • Maintain version control and organize documentation repositories to ensure consistency and traceability across updates.
  • Assist in the creation of briefings, diagrams, and technical visuals that support documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Apply plain language principles and ensure adherence to documentation standards and formatting requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes, templates, and collaboration tools.

As with any evolving technical environment, documentation needs will grow and shift with the mission. We seek writers who are flexible, proactive, and passionate about making complex information accessible.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing or related roles supporting IT, cybersecurity, or software engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of documentation best practices, including structure, clarity, and accuracy for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting programs within the DoD, Intelligence Community, or other federal agencies, ideally with exposure to RMF, NIST, and STIG compliance.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Confluence, SharePoint, Markdown, Adobe Acrobat, or similar.
  • Familiarity with technical environments including cloud services, DevSecOps, cybersecurity frameworks, or system architecture.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Active secret clearance is required, with TS/SCI preferred.
  • B.A./B.S. in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • This is a hybrid position – with both weekly on-site support in San Antonio, TX and remote work supported.

If you're passionate about bridging the gap between technology and mission understanding, and you're eager to support national defense through strong documentation, we want to hear from you. We value writers who are curious, organized, and mission-minded.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
